Michael Blessing

One of the recent showstoppers at Just Looking Gallery, was paintings of neon signs of Michael Blessing. If I had the money I would have purchased more, alas there was only enough for one of his paintings last year. The one that won is painting of Fosters Freeze. fosters freeze

There were many reasons why this had to be the one. My children used to go to Fosters Freeze after school, and this year they tore the building down, and scrapped the lot clean. I knew the kids would be excited to have the painting in the house to remind them of the great times they used to have going there with their friends.

Even when the family unwrapped it, everyone was excited about it. I really didn’t think my husband would be excited as he was, and that was exciting for me. He even wanted to hang it up right away, and that usually doesn’t happen.

The clouds behind the sign look like they would be the clouds on a warm summer day. A perfect night for ice cream. The neon sign looks as though it could light up at any given moment. If you would like to see more of the work of Michael Blessing, please see his web site.
